Crafting Connection - Rhonna Farrer

Here are pics of the classes I took with Rhonna Farrer - Art Attack and Pockets Full of Surprises. The minialbum class was full-on and some of my stamping was a bit smudged but hey i can cover that up with a photo or something. Not too sure what i'll put in the album, maybe something along the lines of What's Beautiful to Me or Things that Make Me Happy around the house, i don't know yet. The page layout opens up to reveal little pockets which you can put in things that you find beautiful, cool, that you just enjoy. This was the class that featured on the Good Morning show and so didn't do it justice on the telly. Its very cool.

And don't forget to check out Designing Memories - i think the kit is going up tomorrow which i was lucky enough to have a play with. So very cool. Thanks Katja!

Friday randomness

Ok a few things.
So first off I got tagged by Ruth so here are my 7 random facts/habits.

1. I can't sleep with the wardrobe door open. Always has to be shut (in case the baddies get me, ya know?).
2. I was born in Napier, spent my first 10 years in Taupo, then the next 8 in Tauranga, then moved to Auckland to go to university and have been here ever since. Time for a change really. Would love to move somewhere smaller.
3. I recently bought my very first trimmer and I hate it. So have gone back to my trusty knife and ruler.
4. I did the Auckland half-marathon 3 years ago. Yes i was actually training and semi-fit!
5. I performed in a flamenco dance troupe for several years.
6. When i was in primary school I walked home from school the 'other way' from normal once but didn't come home which of course worried my mum who called my dad home and they went looking for me. Turns out I got sidetracked at a boy's house where they found me 'dancing' on the roof of his garage!!?! (This is the story i've been told, i don't actually remember)
7. I got taken to hospital by ambulance in my swimsuit while i was 7 months pregnant when i fainted while doing aquarobics.

So there you go.
Also check out No 8 Wired for our 20th dare! Can't believe its been going for that long. Trina has an awesome dare this week.

Crafting Connection - Emily Falconbridge part deux

This is the second class I did with Emily. It was all about photo altering mostly - we used a bleach pen on the photo. Just so cool and I went and bought one myself to play with at home. This is a manilla folder with lots of doodling, paint and kindyglitz on it. Definitely a lot more freestylie than what I usually do. So nice to do something different.

Crafting Connection - Emily Falconbridge

About time I posted some more pics. I really loved this class - Shiny Happy People with Emily Falconbridge. Took me right back to kindy - the paint, the glitter - i am so in love with Kindyglitz!!! Talk about fun. You can't really see it in this picture but the layout is nice and shiny and glittery.

I did another class of Emily's as well but haven't finished that one yet. I've had to put my Crafting Connection stuff on hold because I got my Designing Memories kit from Katja during the week so I've been busy doing layouts for that. Having a lot of fun with scrapping at the moment. And Donna your comment so cracked me up - yes they're 12 x 12s!!! Can you believe it? Actually I was a little worried beforehand and was wondering if I could maybe adapt them to 8.5 x 11 or cut them done or something but i just got over it and now I have a funky Freestyle album. The pic above is actually 9 x 9 and the other one by Emily is a manilla folder so they're all different shapes and sizes which is really quite cool.

Crafting Connection - Kim Henkel

I took 2 classes with Kim Henkel - they were the most relaxing classes I've been in - she called it just like being in a spa! And Kim was so lovely, she even learnt all our names. Kim's were the first layouts I finished from the weekend.

This is from Art Is Beautiful. I picked this class up right at the last minute as I had a gap and nothing better to do. So glad I did. This was all about no adhesive so everything is stitched on except I cheated and used photo splits to attach my photos! And check out that title - all stitched!!!

And this is from Random Photos That Make Me Smile. Isn't this so much fun? I love it.

I really wish I'd been able to take her project class, Pockets Full of Posies. It sounded like it was awesome. If anyone has pics or links, I'd love to see as I didn't actually get to see it.

More tomorrow.

Wow how amazing is this?

Had such a blast of a weekend at Crafting Connection - I loved it. So pleased with all my class choices - there was really just the one class that I didn't take that I would have liked to but hey I think I did alright. I picked up 2 more classes on the Sunday so ended up doing 9 out of a possible 10 classes. Am busy trying to finish them all off now. Will post pics when they're done.

In the meantime, check this out - isn't this amazing? (Click the pic to see bigger)

Back again

And off to the CC07 crop tonight - should be good. I've been frantically trying to organise my photos for the next few days as well as figure out what to take tonight - not much i think. Really looking forward to it.

We had a lovely time up north for a few days, so nice and relaxing not having to worry about what time it is or what we're going to do that day etc etc. Here's my fav pic taken on Coopers Beach.

Happy Easter

Not much been happening around here lately. I've been trying to get ahead with some of my scrapbooking as its going to be a busy few weeks coming up for me. We're going away over the next few days up to the family bach at Taipa in Doubtless Bay. Will be lovely to take walks along the beach, go to the cafes in Mangonui and just relax.

I've been trying to get myself prepared for Crafting Connection so this morning i went to Harvey Norman and used their photo kiosk for the first time - was pretty good. Interesting to compare with photos printed on our home printer which is generally how i do it - they were brighter and more vivid. I would like to compare with Frogprints and DigiMax too. Might be the way to go in the future for when i want to print 6x4s that i'm not needing on the spot.

The other big news is I bought one of these:

This is pretty big stuff!!! I've never had a trimmer before so will be fun to play around with and see if i get converted.

Have a happy easter.

Feel the LOVE

I made some LOVE letters a la Donna Downey's class at Crafting Connection last year. I got these letters from Spotlight and covered them with Basic Grey Blush paper and some rubons, ribbon and charms. They're going to be hung in our bedroom. Daryl keeps rearranging them to say "vole" - typical man, rofl! Here they are and a closeup of two of the letters.

I'm also looking for a suitable webhosting site for my layouts. I'd really like to have a gallery of my layouts and other scrappy items in one place. I'm trying to decide between Photobucket, Flickr or Picasa. Anyone know of any others?

Also found out today that this year's For Keeps Awards for Excellence are only open to Aussies. What the? Bit of a bugger really isn't it?
