Freestylin'

How cool is this? To celebrate Crafting Connection 07 all the tutors have done a layout for us to scraplift over at the NZ Dare site and also the Aussie Dare site. The winner will get a free class at CC07 or if they're not going a set of Autumn Leaves stamps. I've seen some awesome lifts so far but hope to see some more so come on, what are you waiting for? This is my lift of Tia Bennett - love her stuff and so looking forward to the class i'm doing with her.

Crap weather here today. Isla and I braved it to go do some shopping - she desperately needs winter clothes now that it seems like summer has gone. And yay me, i get to go scrapping tonight at Lesley's. Looking forward to that.

FK 52 layouts and other things

Here are my first layouts for For Keeps that I've done for the design team. Its quite exciting seeing them in print! I really like the So Small one - am loving doing some hybrid scrapping with the digi stuff thrown in there - just so much fun! The other one was for the Affordable Style column and I had a budget of $12 to stick to which was really really hard! So I handcut my title which was a first and I probably won't be doing that again!
























Isla had her 15 month jabs today and poor wee girl got 4 jabs instead of 2 because either I wasn't holding her tightly enough or the nurse mucked up! But she seems fine at the moment - enjoying some Baby Einstein ;)

Lara was asking how I did my art journal page - its all paper scrapping: a few magazine scraps, stamping and rubons - that's all!

Other news: I've been lucky enough to be asked to be a guest designer for Designing Memories. How cool is that - such yummy kits - I can't wait to play!

Better now

Finally feeling better, still got a wee bit of a cough but am mostly recovered now.

So I finished this layout the other day for Scrapbooking By Design - this was 9 days in the making would you believe??? What with powercuts just before I was due to print my photos and of course I hadn't saved and with being sick it took a while to get done.

On Friday we had the first cybercrop for SBD - it was lots of fun and went off pretty well i thought considering most of us had never been at one before. I managed to do 2 out of the 3 challenges - this card (based on a sketch) and an art journal page which was my challenge. It had to be a tag, or ATC or art journal page with the word "CREATE" on it. So I have this ongoing art journal which I started a couple of years ago - it hasn't progressed very far, I've only done about 5 pages in it so this was perfect. I'd like to do more but hey...

Well its Friday again - i've been sick with the flu for the last week and a bit, still got a bit of a cough but omg i felt like death. No scrapping or anything got done so i'm a bit behind.

But hey check out Scrapbooking By Design have a cybercrop tonight from 8pm - should be fun, a few challenges, some prizes so hope to see you there.

The latest

Here is my latest layout - this is for Scrapbooking By Design. I had papers and embellishments to use from this month's monthly kit. The papers are by Rouge de Garance - so yummy and bright. Not my usual style so was a challenge to use but I bought some more of them from Lisa cos they are so fun! I think they go perfectly with these photos. I had so many photos to choose from it was hard to narrow it down to 8!

We went to Plunket this morning for Isla's 15 month visit. Always good to get validation that what you're doing is right. She is doing well growth and developmental wise so its all good.

Ok just noticed that something wierd has happened to my banner. Both that and the Dare blinkie were gone and I had to put them back in tho the banner has gone a bit spaz, lol. Oh well i'm currently working on a new one - hope to get it up soon!

15 months.

Isla is 15 months old today. Where has the time gone? Seems like only yesterday that we were preparing for her 1st birthday party and now that's 3 months ago! Here is a pic of the little tike at Nana's house on Tuesday riding on a scooter. She was loving it!

Time for an update

Going to work on a new banner tonight. I need a new look and my links need a bit of tidying up and updating too. Stay tuned.

Thanks for all the comments re the FK Design Team. I'm loving doing it though only have one more issue to work on now but its been so much fun. And wanted to link up too to Lesley and Sharon who are the other Kiwi girls on the team. The coolest thing is Lesley is a very good friend of mine and Sharon just lives around the corner! How is that for a small world!

Yeah baby yeah!!!

So the news is out - I'm on the 2007 For Keeps Design Team! What a thrill and so pleased I no longer have to keep quiet about it - that's been the hardest thing. And the other exciting thing is there are 2 other kiwi girls on it as well - just too cool! So I've completed over half my assignments for the magazine by now but its really exciting to see them start to come out in print.

So here's the layout that started it all off - this was the layout that won me a prize in the Awards for Excellence. I'm still amazed by it considering i'd never entered a competition before or been published in For Keeps before. Excuse the really bad scan - the colour is so completely washed out in this.
